If you're not into cars, you've probably never heard of a car condo – a private storage unit, usually built alongside several others, designed specifically for people who want not only a place to safely park their high-end rides but also meet and hang out with their fellow car enthusiasts.
A decade ago, even most gearheads weren't familiar with the concept, as only a handful of these hobbyist man cave-country club hybrids existed. But as of 2026, there are well over 350 car condo communities across 41 states, each housing at least a few dozen units, with more slated to open in the near future. At least two niche publications, Car Collectors Club and Only Garage Condos, offer dedicated coverage of new developments in this category. And according to automotive journalists, they are the hot new asset for serious collectors.
